Poker is a card game played with a standard deck of 52 cards. In a majority of poker games, players bet in multiple rounds. The player with the best hand is the one who wins the pot.<\/p>\n
Each round of betting starts with antes and blinds. Once all the ante money has been distributed, the dealer deals the cards. Every active player is given one faceup card. The remaining two players are dealt one more faceup card.<\/p>\n
A player can raise, check, or fold. When a player raises, he must make a contribution to the pot. This amount varies depending on the type of game. Players can also bluff by betting that they have a better hand than the other players.<\/p>\n
Betting occurs in a clockwise direction. The first bettor is the player with the highest combination of poker hands. If there are ties, the high card breaks them.<\/p>\n
If no ties are resolved, a showdown takes place. If more than one player remains in the race, more than one round of betting will be held.<\/p>\n
Cards are ranked from Ace to Ace. Wild cards may be used to make a five of a kind. One of the most popular poker variants, five-card stud, is played with three faceup cards and one facedown card.<\/p>\n
Another poker variant is deuce. When a poker player has two cards of the same rank, he is said to have a deuce.<\/p>\n
