Each player is dealt a total of seven cards and must make the best five-card hand out of them. The highest hand wins the pot. In most games, players must first place a bet (the amount varies by game) before being dealt cards. The bet is placed into a pot in the center of the table. Players can either call (match) the bet, bluff and hope to win, or concede.<\/p>\n<p>Poker can be a complex game, with many different rules and variants. It is also a very social game and can be played for high stakes. For these reasons, poker has become a very popular game.<\/p>\n<p>In the most common form of poker, a standard pack of 52 cards is used, although some games use more or less than that number and may include jokers as wild cards. The cards are ranked (from high to low) Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4. Each player\u2019s hand consists of their own two personal cards plus the five community cards that are revealed on the table. A good strategy is to study the tells of other players, which are a result of unconscious habits that reveal information about their hand. This is done by observing body language and other subtle signals.
